Critical Theory

This semester I was pleasantly surprised with the subject "Critical Theory". At first I thought we would study texts that are very difficult to understand. In addition, I thought the classes would be boring and uninviting.

The teacher is also very helpful, because her teaching method is very pedagogical. She worries about explaining very complex things with a vocabulary that we can all understand, she starts from the most basic to the most complex. In addition, it uses current examples to better understand issues that can sometimes be very complex and delicate.

The classes consist of analyzing the different intellectuals such as Karl Marx, Antonio Gramsci, T. Adorno, Horkheimer, M. Berman, W. Benjamin, among others. The branch is very interesting because in addition to studying the different theses and principle of the authors also stimulates us to reason and question society.

The topics covered in the semester program are: Cultural industry, hegemony, social structure, power relations, capitalism, among other topics.

The next semester the subject continues under the name of "Cultural studies and communication" and I hope to be able to continue with the same teacher, because I have already become accustomed to working with her method.
